The fairest one of all

By Azlene Owens March 1, 2010

The fairest one of allYes. The fairest one of all. I mean, literally, fair. I’m talking about our skin, ladies and gentlemen. What is mysterious without a pale-looking skin as white as the dead? Our body is mostly made up of skin. So why not take care of it starting with protecting it from the harmful ray of sunlight? If you are someone who is into sun tanning, you probably should not read on.

As I’m situated in an Asia country, I got to do serious routines to protect my honey-toned skin. Honestly, in Singapore now, it’s scorching hot. I never experience Summer but I guess the heat there isn’t as bad as this tropical country I’m living in. It’s got humid and we, Asians, cannot escape from getting tanned even unintentionally. It’s tragic, really. Now, allow me to share with you how I took care of my skin.

    Day:

  • Face – Whether I have to go out in the day or not, I have the habit of putting on sunblock on my face with at least SPF 50. I’m using La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF +50 Tinted Cream. It is the best for me.
  • Body – I also put on the sunblock on the exposed skin of my body. I’m using Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock with SPF 50+. This is an extra measure I took just in case I forgot to roll back down the sleeve of my shirt under sun exposure.
  • Alternative – If you’re not a “cream” type of person because the feeling of having it on your skin makes you uncomfortable, be different by wearing some long breathable (e.g. cotton) clothes. Or, you could use an umbrella, which I think is the most convenient escape from sun exposure.
    Night:

  • Face – At night, I apply whitening cream cum moisturiser on my face for an even skin tone. I’m using L’Oreal Paris White Perfect Night Cream.
  • Body – I’m actually using Nivea Extra Whitening Milk Repair but Amazon doesn’t seem to sell it online. You can go online and do a research on its benefits et cetera.
  • Alternative – If you’re in doubt of which product is suitable for your skin type, you can always consult a dermatologist. Or, you can go natural. I bet there are many natural or traditional means to mend dark skin.

Now tell me, what steps do you take to maintain that beautiful fair skin of yours?
